All-star time in Hastings
June showers bring all-star games in Nebraska. And for two straight Saturdays, Hastings College is the place to be.
This week HC hosts the annual Shrine Soccer Classic with the best graduated high school seniors meeting up in a girls-boys doubleheader. The event seems to have found a nice home in Hastings, and the rain may actually stay away for this one.
On June 20 is the annual Sertoma Eight-Man All-Star Game where the top players from the smaller schools get their chance to shine. While the Independent coverage area isn't as well represented as usual -- only two players are on the rosters this year -- it is always a fun game to watch and a much-needed dose of football in June.
