Crusaders enjoying closing 'home' stretch
Grand Island Central Catholic wrestling fans won’t have much more traveling to do this season — at least not until the state tournament.
Starting with Saturday’s Centennial Conference meet at GICC, the Class C No. 5-rated Crusaders will host three of their next four tournaments, including their home invitational on Feb. 7 and the Class C, District 3 meet Feb. 13-14. Besides the state tournament in Omaha, the only other away meet for coach Marc Starostka’s team is the Hastings St. Cecilia Invitational on Jan. 31.
Teams participating in Saturday’s Centennial Conference meet include GICC, Aquinas, Fremont Bergan, Wahoo Neumann, Boys Town, Council Bluffs St. Albert’s (Iowa), Hastings St. Cecilia, Elkhorn Mount Michael and Lincoln Christian. The start time is now 11 a.m. — one hour earlier than originally scheduled.
