The Heartland Hoops Classic features great High School Basketball competition at the Heartland Events Center. Fourteen teams will be competing in seven games featuring area teams; Grand Island Central Catholic, Heartland Lutheran, Wood River, St. Paul, Central City, Hastings St. Cecilia, Ravenna, Boone Central, Weeping Water, Minden, Burwell, Fremont Bergan, Ralston and Chadron.
Games tip off at 9:30 Saturday morning February 14th with Burwell vs. Heartland Lutheran, at 11:15 Weeping Water will take on Wood River, at 1:00 pm Boone Central will face Central City followed by Fremont Bergan vs. Ravenna at 2:45 pm. St. Paul will play Minden at 4:30 pm followed by Ralston and St. Cecilia at 6:15. The night cap will feature Chadron against Grand Island Central Catholic, with tip off scheduled for 8:00 pm.
This will be the second year for the event, with the first year drawing a crowd of over 3,500 fans from Nebraska and Iowa. The unique tournament like event takes place prior to district play and should prove to be a good test for area teams. The opportunity to see area teams of different classes in one setting, playing in an arena like the Heartland Events Center is something unique for fans and very exciting for student athletes. We hope this event will draw fans of all ages and from all over Nebraska. We plan to continue this annual event that basketball teams and fans look forward to competing in for years to come.
Tickets on sale now through Ticket Master or the Heartland Events Center Ticket Office, 308-382-4515. Adult tickets are $10, Student tickets are $4 & there are a limited number of courtside seats left for $20. All tickets are good for all 7 games.
