The new Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association ratings are out for Classes A and D and the Grand Island Senior High wrestling team has raised its profile even further.
Already rated No. 1 in Class A in the team and dual rankings, a total of five Islanders now possess No. 1 individual ratings. The list includes: Andrew Riedy (103 pounds), Blake Fruchtl (112), Alec Chanthapatheth (130), Riley Allen (152) and Alan Taylor (189).
Other rated wrestlers for GISH include Matt Rice (third at 135), Nate Westerby (second at 189) and Jesse Janulewicz (fifth at 285).
In Class D, Palmer remains No. 2 in both the team and dual ratings. High Plains is No. 8 in the team ratings.
Area No. 1-rated individuals in Class D include Trenton Nekoliczak of Greeley-Wolbach/Cedar Rapids (125), Tanner Kuhn of High Plains (140), Riley Santin of Palmer (189) and Jack Wardyn of Palmer (285).
